Personally, I wish that the swimming pool were finished. In this weather I could dive right in and float around all day.

Ya know, news is a gettin scarce around here and I'm beginning to wonder if you people are locking yourselves up in you rooms with your books or something just as horrible!

However, no matter how black the situation may seem we always have a few enterprising students who manage to get away for the weekend.

Barbara Woodall attended the game between Mt. St. Mary's and Lebanon Valley.
Joy Hollinger, Marilyn Mercher, Elaine Henderson, Joan Lowry, Elaine Henderson, Joan Lowry, Francie Roughy, Jean Parta, Anne Smith, Dotty Lambert, Joanne Jarrett, and Sue Cartier spent the weekend at Gettysburg being dined, danced, and football gamed.

Betty Duffy made a much longer trek up to Yale. So did Jean Stover and Gene Haury. However, it was worth it.

By the way, might give a whisper to all the unfortunate freshmen who didn't go to RAUdy Saturday that they missed a swell time and some (ahem) awfully good cider.
Janet Randall, ex-'48, was married this weekend in Swathmore, Pennsylvania. Everyone wondered why second floor Meyran was so quiet.

Monterrey riders are easily picked out on campus because of their red shiny faces and the soft pillows which they carry. Just make horse noises and watch them wince.

There seemed to be quite a fad last week for splints, crutches, and bandages. Among the distinguished personages of the Royal Order of Crutch and Bandage were Vi Pape, Joan Doubet, Lou Hendrickson, Barbara Jones, Boots Maurer.

The juniors of the third floor Meyran, dressed in black, buried a beloved member of their group, Blacky, a goldfish. The ceremony was very impressive, and the hallowed grace was situated in the middle of Dotty Peel's bed. May we all share a moment of prayer for Blacky. Rest his fins.

Commentary:

Sally Dawes' column "Hood Winks 'N Blinks" was a colorful addition to The Blue and Grey in the late forties, providing the most trivial, gossip-laden news imaginable on a weekly basis. Often Sally reported on who received rings or pins from various gentlemen callers and which dances were the most swell. This particular column caught my attention because it mentioned a dearly departed dorm room fish named Blacky. It makes one stop and wonder just how many dorm fish have met their end in Hood's history. During my freshman year, coincidentally when I lived on the third floor of Meyran, two fish were buried in elaborate fashion. Poor…I don't remember their names. I guess some things at Hood never change. For the love of God, may all the beloved fish that have died within Hood's walls rest their fins!
