Hellbilly Deluxe 2
Horror rocker turned horror movie director Rob Zombie is back at it again with his new album, "Hellbilly Deluxe 2", the sequel to his previous hit album "Hellbilly Deluxe".
The album was finally released on February 2 after a three-month push off, and has been creating decent buzz in the alternative music world.
"Hellbilly Deluxe 2" has everything that you would want or expect out of a Rob Zombie album with a few new twists. The album starts out in true horror style with ambient noises, distorted guitars, and dark lyrics on the track "Jesus Frankenstein". The second track, "Sick Bubblegum", begins with a traditional incomprehensible radio recording of a man and continues with a standard Zombie fist-pumping anthem. While Zombie has kept his signature style on this album, he explores a variety of underground horror punk sounds and includes a greater span of instrumentation. On the track "Mars Needs Women", Zombie pulls the listener into a southern acoustic sound, which is atypical of the "Hellbilly Deluxe" sound. He continues to incorporate southern influence into songs throughout the album, giving his standard industrial sound a new edge. On tracks such as "Virgin Witch", Zombie delves into a darker, heavier sound involving an intricate guitar solo. The last three tracks of the album are remixed versions of the first three tracks, adding an interesting closing to the album. Zombie will be following the release of this album with a full-length tour featuring the psychobilly band Nekromantix. "Hellbilly Deluxe 2" is yet another classic Rob Zombie endeavor, and it holds true to that sound.
