Hood College Students to Perform Vampire Lesbians of Sodom
Danielle McFall
From December 3rd to 5th , a student-run performance of "Vampire Lesbians of Sodom" will be performed in Tatem's Avalon Performing Arts Studio. "Vampire Lesbians of Sodom" is an off-Broadway play written by Charles Busch based on the adventures of two vampy vampires over the course of centuries.
The plot follows these two characters and their 2,000-year-old rivalry in bloodsucking and acting, making a pit stop in 1920's Hollywood to wreak havoc on the silent film world.
Directed by graduate student Malissa Lamont, 23, the show will feature the talents of 13 Hood students, along with seven students on the crew. Lamont describes the show as, "a campy romp" and is emphasizing humor, color, and movement in this production.
Lamont and crew will be painting and redesigning the stage to create an unforgettable experience in the Avalon.
"Everyone is getting along swimmingly, and in the end, I think it will come together nicely," noted freshman Nick Temple.
The box office will open at 6:30 p.m., with 8:00 p.m. shows on the three December dates. With a colorful cast and blocking laden with sexual puns, "Vampire Lesbians of Sodom" should be an enjoyable performance with non-stop laughter.
