A sophomore, Kristina Straub, has been playing volleyball since her freshman year at Paint Branch High School. From Burtonsville, MD, Kristina is majoring in Management with a concentration in Accounting. She plans to become an accountant and eventually open a restaurant. Currently she has no free time.
"I work a full time job at B.F. Saul Co. in Bethesda, MD but when I can I play volleyball all the time," she says.
Q: How do you feel about your volleyball season?
A: This season rally brought the team together. All of the Girls became so close and we all know that we can trust each other and that is what is most important about playing a team sport. Even though our record didn't show it, we really fought during each match. This was definitely a growing season.
Q: What is your training philosophy?
A: We have to train for volleyball year round. Volleyball isn't a sport that you can just show up and expect to play. A lot of conditioning is necessary in playing volleyball.
Q: Do you have any awards or accomplishments?
A: From the Hood Team:
2008 - All Around Player Award
2007 - Rookie Award
Q: Any advice to the people who want to try out next year?
A: I encourage anyone who has an interest in volleyball to tryout next year. But I suggest that if you're going to tryout, train in the off season.
