Top Ten Movies of 2009

As the calendar turns to a new year and the beginnings of a new decade, it is time to look back on the films that have truly made an impact on the year of 2009. Last year was a year of soldiers, leaders, laughs, love, animation, and unforgettable aliens, as we think of the most outstanding movies of 2009.

In 2009, there were movies that were thrilling to behold and those that we wish we could forget. The time has comes to shine a spotlight on the ones we wish that could be forgotten but cannot. This is a list of the top ten worst films of 2009, from ten as tenth worst to one being the absolute worst.

Ah, who could forget grunge, the long lost genre of the 1990's that killed hair metal? Beyond the initial smell of teen spirit, grunge still remains as an influential style. Check out these ten grungy jams that will take you back to the flannel heart of the 1990's.

Open Forum - Light Cuts (February 18, 1922)

Is it essential for Hood College students to have light cuts, the privilege of keeping one's light on after ten-thirty? We hear various strenuous negatives to this practical college question, but evidently they are from individuals who live outside the dormitory or from those who are in blissful slumber promptly at ten-thirty.

Editor's note: The term "light-cut" may seem contrary to the purpose of this editorial, but the word "cut" held a different meaning for Hood College students in 1922. "Cuts" were a sort of leeway that students were afforded each year that allowed them to skip class for certain reasons, attending church for example.

Hisop Hip-Hop

Hip-hop is a touchy subject for a lot of people. The powerful lyrics of underground hip-hop can be intimidating to some people, and mainstream hip-hop can be offensive to a lot of underground artists. Hood student Tyler Hisop, who writes and performs hip-hop music under the pseudonym SacriFICE, prefers thought-provoking music.

It is safe to say that World of Warcraft is a fairly popular game; the last statistic I read was something regarding several million players. I, myself, am a player. I started on the Shadow Council realm, or server, shortly after The Burning Crusade expansion was released.
