On Friday, Nov. 14, the Whitaker Campus Center was turned into a mirror reminiscent of "Alice in Wonderland." Women with beards and men with breasts, how could this be? Did the college fall into some alternative dimension? No, in actuality it was the annual Drag Ball, hosted by "Tolerance, Education, Acceptance" (TEA) to promote awareness and acceptance of the alternative sexualities of part of the population on campus.
This year the International Show was an outstanding hit with the students. Everyone who attended enjoyed the experience. The show was full of good singing, dancing and funny jokes. The show had an amazing variety of dances and singing styles. Throughout the night, the passengers followed Rob Stegman on his adventures through 17 different countries.
Director and producer Kenny Ortega has done it once again with High School Musical 3: Senior Year. Audience members gazed on as stars like Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, and Corbin Bleu lit up the cinema screen. Cute but corny, HMS 3, was bare in the costume department - barely passing with a G rating.
The Secret Life of Bees was originally a novel written by Sue Monk Kidd. While the movie adaptation is warm-hearted and honey filled, it does not quite do the book justice. Directing and screenplay, done by Gina Prince-Blythewood, was so-so. The book/movie is about a 14 year old girl named Lily (Dakota Fanning) who loses her mother in a tragic accident.
